Since the last year or so I am seeing this trend in a very wide spread way. It's not that it wasn't present before but it's now spreading like a wild fire.
People are ditching their ccTLD's even the premium ones for a .COM domain. They don't even care if the .COM domain has hyphens in it !!!
I just saw one fellow buy a hyphen domain for $6000. The domain was like "furniture name- an universal word like 'hq' or 'lovely' or 'zone' or 'man'".
I mean it's crazy the guy had a domain which was a premium one in his country.

I am trying to launch a closed community. It will be very small but very active and I need special features such as the like, smiley and will also enable people to insert urls along with videos.
phpbb has a great community. And on the other hand Mybb is great forum with great features but as their community is small so they are slow in many terms.
I am mulling right now. Should I be looking for any paid options?
Any suggestions specially @batman

Recently, it happened to me. I changed my hosting. The concerned site is in a shared hosting and it is been moved to a VPS with different separate IP and all.
But after moving the site. The rankings fell drastically specially the international keywords which were ranking in many countries across the globe. A friend of mine suggested that it may be the IP that is responsible.
What do you guys say?
