Not necessarily. Ranking depends mainly on the site's on-page SEO and link profile. Yeah ofcourse if its an exact match then it will help your users to remember your domain name.

I have seen this recently that a site with irrelevant domain name is ranking far better than a site having exact or a little bit derivative of the exact keyword domain name.
The reason is that the previous site has a tremendously good link profile. And a very good looking professionally operated on-page elements with a clear navigation.
