Worthy directories like dmoz can give you some boost but that just a little. Mainly directories are good for outreach.

Good Page rank

And help you to get Domain authority and traffic as well.

Directory submissions are no more important as Google considers them as 'thin' sites with very less content. They are rarely crawled and indexed in Google.
