Can Mobile ranking effect desktop rankings too?

Can Mobile ranking effect desktop rankings too? Say, a site is not mobile optimized then Mobile rankings are effected that's sure but can it effect the desktop rankings too?

It depends on whether or not your audience reside in mobile or desktop. If your majority of the audience reside in desktop then it doesn't matter that your site is not mobile optimized.

They have absolutely no effect that I can assure you.

Many major sites are not mobile optimized and truth to be told they don't even care if their audience is in mobile or desktop. It doesn't matter that your site is mobile optimized, as long it is optimized for the majority of the audience and whomever they might be.
