This is a temporary method, which means it pushes down sites ranking between positions 5-10 on Page 1 as well as those on the 2nd page temporarily to Pages 3-6 so that other sites can come up to the pages 1 & 2 and thereby gain more traffic. I have seen this process repeated in all industries that I have studied till date.
