I ran into similar issues a while back, mostly around syncing and performance. Switching to nextcloud hosting helped a lot since I could manage things like storage space and access limits better. It also gave me more control over server load, so the lag and syncing errors dropped. Make sure your PHP limits and memory settings are tuned too — they made a bigger difference than I expected.
