Why my created link is not updating as a backlinks?

I’ve seen this kind of thing before, and in my case, it was tied to messy redirects and some weird index links popping up in Search Console that led nowhere. Cleaning up the internal linking and using proper canonical tags helped. Also double-checked that old pages weren’t still being crawled by bots through forgotten index links buried in sitemaps.
