Had a similar situation when I got a post up on a niche blog in the home repair space. Tried putting the link in the author bio once—got almost zero traction. Later posts, I placed the link naturally in the content with a relevant anchor, and those actually drove clicks and ranked better. Relevance really does help. Also got some tips from a guest posting service provider I used once—they stressed context over just getting the link in.
