US traffic is down by 70% compared to  last year.
SERP's can't even figure out a simple single sentence query for exact matches. It messes up, totally not fine.

I think Google SERP changes are becoming less about individual “ranking factors” and more about how well a page satisfies search intent and provides genuinely useful information. Google continues to make ongoing improvements to its ranking systems, including smaller updates that may not always be formally announced.

With AI Overviews and AI Mode also becoming a bigger part of Search, SEOs should monitor both traditional organic rankings and visibility within AI features. Google has even introduced dedicated Search Console reporting for generative AI visibility.

Rather than reacting to every SERP fluctuation, I think the better approach is to analyze Search Console data, search intent, content quality, and competitor changes before making major SEO decisions.

Beyond regularly updating the site with high-quality content and building backlinks, what else can be done?
