Building separate site for product

Some build separate mobile site for their products and some marketers just optimize their site according to mobile. What should we do? Any thoughts which is better?

It totally depends upon the audience and on the type of site which you are dealing with.

If your products search audience is mainly from mobile then building a separate site or an app will be more advantageous then rather just optimizing the main site. Suppose, you have a blog and now you have launched a sales page whose audience is mainly from mobile then you should always consider building a separate page just for them.

Well although it depends and varies in every case. But I don't think that its completely necessary to build a separate site for just one product. You can just add a sub-domain to your site and optimize it for your product's mobile users.
