No-follow link doesn't get counted as backlinks

Does all the no-follow links doesn't gets counted as backlinks? Do Google even consider them as backlinks?

If a link is no-follow then its doesn't mean that Google doesn't count it as a backlink. Yeah, it is not counted as a ranking factor but still it gets counted as a backlink.

No-follow links can also drive tremendous amount of traffic take the example of social networking sites. They provide no-follow links but still they drive good amount of referral traffic.
