When HTML is generated using word processors and uploaded to the site, search engines often see lines of coding that does not relate to the content being advertised. You need a code search engines can read. If your web site isn't coded correctly, it could affect your web site's search engine ranking.

Design is a HUGE part of the user experience. If your design is poor, you could do everything right in SEO and still be on the back foot! Design is an integral part of SEO at this point of the game, so when you do SEO for your site, realize it all starts from square one – what your site looks like, and how users navigate it!

SEO is not just about keywords selections, page relevancy, link building and so on, few of us would think the website design can affect the search rankings but definitely it does. You need to design such a map that can make your website pages easy to be crawled, indexed, and displayed in the SERPs by main search engines such as Google.

Let say designing a website relates to two things:
1) Site structure and navigation: this affects quite a lot in SEO since it determines the where the bot can crawl and what particular category, tag, and pages we want to index.
2) Audience matter: for most of the time audiences don't want to click too much times just to get to the link they want to see. Therefore, audiences don't like a site which has a complicated structure (too many categories, layers, etc...) and high chance they will abandon the site just because they don't know where to look at or search for. Appearance is also a matter since too complicated sites (for example there are so many pictures, videos for site to load) make it load extremely slow and audiences don't want to wait for too long just to see a site fully loaded.
