When Search Engines spiders comes to one's site and fetch the webpages to the Search Engines it known as crawling. And when the fetched webpages get listed to the search engine directories so that when relevant search occurs they can be shown the search results it known as indexing.

When search engine spiders come to your site it is called crawling and when they get your urls listed in the search directories they are know as indexing.
