Minimum number of Email Addresses to start a Campaign

I was just wondering what is the minimum number of Email Addresses that one should to have to start an effective and successful Email Marketing Campaign?

It generally depends on how big your niche is. Suppose, if your keywords has a demand rate of 10000 visitors per day then I will suggest that an email list of 5000 addresses will be great to start a campaign. But you know its just my personal pointof view.

Some of the marketers may consider that 10k should be the limit but I think that's totally unnecessary. An email list which is build organically can get you much conversions rather a list which is collected just to make sure the number count grow.
