No, it depends on the site.
In many cases I just prefer people contacting me directly.

Some guys prefer it as a mandatory. But I don't think that. I do not apply it unless I detect any external threat.

Some does and some don't. If you are managing a PBN or PBN's then its advisable that you use it.

If you are not managing any private site network then its pretty much non-needed. And ofcourse the hosting will suggest you to use. They will make more money if you buy.
